HIV 1/O/2 Antibodies, Prelim W/Confirm.

The HIV 1/0/2 is a qualitative blood test for the detection of antibodies to Human Immunodeficiency Virus type 1 and 2(HIV-1/2) in human serum or plasma. It is considered as an initial screening test for HIV-1/2 antibodies.  If the sample is positive it is confirmed with Western Blot analysis. Depending on the individual, it will take your body several months to develop the antibodies that fight HIV.  Therefore, it is generally recommended that you wait 3 months after exposure before you get an HIV antibody test with another test at 6 months and 9 months.
